How can ESG empower individuals?
Delivering real change and transformation at Definia begins with us as individuals. Working alongside our partners at The IN Group, we focus on ways to actively do good through our four committees:
- DEI
- Wellbeing and engagement
- Charity partnerships
- Environment
Our onward eco commitments
The UK government has committed to being carbon zero by 2050, and the UN’s Race to Zero challenges organisations to halve their emissions by 2030. Our mission is to be net zero by 2030, well ahead of these targets.
We reviewed our emissions in 2021, as we wanted to know where and how changes needed to be made. Our mission is to reduce direct operational emissions to net zero by 2025, and indirect emissions by 2030. So what did we do?
We brought in the experts from Climate SME Hub to validate our emission targets, and aligned ourselves with the Oxford Offsetting Principles, on our journey to net zero.
Trees for Cities
As part of our journey, we’ve partnered with Trees for Cities – the only UK charity working nationally and internationally to improve lives by planting trees in cities. They work with local communities to revitalise forgotten spaces and create healthier environments, whilst also getting people excited about growing, foraging, and eating healthy food.
In partnership with The IN Group, we have so far planted 1,380 trees. That’s over 19 trees a week in the first 18 months since the initiative began. For us, this is just the beginning, and we are committed to reaching our goals, so our business is a force for good for our communities and our planet.
